Eat My Butterfly - Labalamer LPEat My Butterfly

Dive into the unique soundscape of "Labalamer" (The Sea), the stunning 2021 EP from Réunionnais drummer and producer Eat My Butterfly (Dilo), released by the global label Shika Shika. This special vinyl edition marks a significant moment, pressed locally in Réunion Island.

Composed upon Dilo's return to her native island, "Labalamer" captures the textures and slow movements of reconnecting with homeland roots. The EP masterfully explores the lines between traditional Réunionnais Maloya, intricate percussion, and emotive electronic music. Each track unfolds its own entrancing universe, creating an intimate dialogue between downtempo electronica and ancestral rhythms. Themes of bereavement, expatriation, and inner discovery weave through this deeply personal and compelling release.

Features collaborations with fellow Indian Ocean artists Christine Salem, Aleksand Saya, and Sibu Manaï (Justine Mauvin), alongside French artist Dal and remixes by Aleksand Saya and El Búho. A must-have for lovers of innovative electronic music rooted in tradition.
